Safeguarding
Our commitment
FSC Unite is committed to protecting children, young people and adults at risk who take part in or come into contact with our activities. We aim to treat everyone with dignity and respect and prevent abuse, neglect, bullying, discrimination and exploitation.
Schools and community activities
Our sickle cell awareness sessions provide general education and information, not medical advice. We work with schools on suitable supervision, safeguarding risk assessments, photography permissions and appropriate volunteer checks. Children should not be asked to share their diagnosis or health experiences publicly.
Our safeguarding arrangements
FSC Unite has an internal safeguarding policy and reporting procedure. We record and respond to concerns and refer matters to the appropriate safeguarding or statutory services when necessary.
Report a concern
Safeguarding lead: Toni James, Chair. Email: info@fscunite.org.uk. If the concern involves Toni, or you cannot contact her, contact Edward Baffoe, Trustee, at fscunite@outlook.com. Include a brief explanation of the concern and how to contact you. Avoid sending unnecessary sensitive information in your first email. You do not need proof of harm to report a concern.
Immediate danger
If someone is in immediate danger, call 999. You can contact your local authority’s children’s or adults’ safeguarding service directly. Our email addresses are not emergency services.
What happens after a report
We take concerns seriously and consider what action is needed to protect people. Relevant information may need to be shared with safeguarding agencies or authorities. We cannot promise absolute confidentiality where information must be shared to prevent harm or meet legal obligations.
